Most extreme planets of our universe

Universe is continuously showing its extreme and unexpected things as much as we try to explore it. We found many unexpected things. We have discovered many galaxies, nebulas, stars and planets which is totally shocking for us. Here are some of most extreme planets discovered by scientists:

Tres 2b

Tres 2b is known for its darkness, yes darkness. This is around 750 light years away from us toward Draco constellation. The discovery of this planet is a result of hard work of astronomers because, it is so dark that almost impossible to detect, but astronomers did this challenging task.

Tres 2b is a Jupiter sized planet orbiting it’s star GSC 03549-02811. This planet is tidally locked with its star, which means it’s one side always faces towards star. Researchers said that, this planet is much darker than coal found on earth.

Researchers said that, it’s atmosphere is filled with gaseous Titanium oxide and potassium and other light observing chemicals. This is only predictions, non of these theories are able in clarifying the reason of darkness of this planet. We can assume that it may be a good planets for ghosts and vampires. The surface temperature of this planet is near 400 degrees Celsius. Actually this planet just reflects almost 1% of its star’s light that’s why it is so dark.

CFBSSIR 2149-0403

When we hear the word planet, the first image in our mind is of a rocky planet or gas giants which is rotating its star form any kind of rotation and with any distance.

But, the strange thing about this planet is, this planet have no star. This planet is termed as free floating planetary mass object. Another interesting thing about this planet is, it is nearly 2.5 billion years old and 130 light years away from earth.

The predictions are, CFBSSIR 2149-0403 is thrown out by the gravitational pull of other planet of its solar system. The planet is 4 to 9 times bigger than Jupiter. This planet is formed mostly by heavier elements.
May be water should also present on this alone planet.

CFBSSIR 2149-0403 is emitting infrared radiation and it will continue until the planet gets cools down. It’s surface temperature is nearly 400 degrees Celsius now. This planet is moving alone in the space and it will doing this until it didn’t get attracted by gravitational force of any other star.

Gliese 436 b

Sometimes also called as GJ 436 b. This is a planet of hot burning ice, yes it has burning ice. This planet is revolving its star Gliese 436 with very low distance hence, it’s surface temperature is nearly 437 degrees Celsius.

Now the question is, if this is a planet with such a huge surface temperature then how it is covered by ice?

Actually this happens because of the strong gravitational force of the planet which stops water to leave the surface of the planet and another reason is, the ice on GJ 436 b having very strong bonding because it is formed by ice 7. It is a special kind of ice, as if it touches our skin then our skin will burn suddenly.

Because of such a high temperature, the hydrogen and helium of this planet gets evaporated into its atmosphere. We really can’t imagine life on this planet as it is a form of cool burning hell.

Studies suggest that, the atmosphere of this burning ice planet is rich on CO and deficient in CH4. Due to high temperature, its atmosphere is evaporating and forming a dense clod ring around the planet and due the high temperature of star the ring cloud is converting in planet’s tail.

GJ 1214b

Water is one of the most important and essential component for life, hence astronomers are trying to find planets, where water present in liquid state.

GJ 1214b is a planet where water found in its liquid state but there is a problem, this planet is totally covered with water only. Which means there is no hard land on this planet. The planet is actually larger than earth but smaller than Uranus. This was the story of planet’s surface only but it’s atmosphere is also filled within steamy water.

It’s star GJ 1214 is 48 light years away from us. Because of such kind of watery surface and atmosphere, scientists named it ‘the water world’. The surface temperature of this water world is 128-282 degrees Celsius that’s why this is also known as the hot version of Europa.

This is also a mystery that how water is percent on a planet whose surface temperature is so high(above boiling point). Still some peoples are expecting any life form in the ocean of GJ 1214b. Astronomers didn’t propose any idea related to this.

PSR B-1620-26b

PSR B-1620-26b is not known for its temperature, surface, whether or luminosity but still, this planet raise a question on our knowledge about planets and not only planet but whole universe.

PSR B-1620-26b was discovered by Backer in 1993 which was later confirmed in 2003. The planet is 12,400 light years away from us in Scorpius constellation. This planet is also known as the name of methuselah- the oldest known man according to Bible. Just like its nickname this is oldest known planet in universe. The age of this planet comes out after calculation of the errors is 12.7 billion years.

Another interesting fact about this planet is, this planet is found in globular cluster- where no planets found till before this one. PSR B-1620-26b is almost 2.5 times bigger than Jupiter and complete its orbit in 100 years from the distance of 23 AU from its parent star.

Actually this planet revolve around 2 stars, one is a white dwarf and other is a neutron star which rotates with the speed of 100 revolutions per second. Actually the age of the whole star system is 12.7 billion years that’s why this star system is oldest known binary star system.

If we compare it with age of universe which is 13.8 billion years, then the conclusion comes out is, this planet forms just in a billion year which is really not understandable with our current knowledge.
